Employment and Student Loans
Employment and Student Loans One of the biggest problems for those entering college is that they tend to choose a career based only on their current interests or what is in demand at the moment. What students need to do is plan for life after college and to use that time to maximize their future hiring potential as well as financial potential. Most people have many interests but only a few of those interests are marketable enough to be a viable career. You should not expect success if the majority of your plan is to be in the o.o1% who are professional athletes. Its far better to diversify and have a fallback plan. A solid practical major that will be marketable for years to come makes sense for your immediate future as well as your financial future. Many students will take out thousands of dollars in student loans on majors that will not translate into a viable career. As a result, they get strapped with student loans and rob themselves of a decent standard of living. There are several ways around this trap. The most common sense approach is to stay away from borrowing money for majors that will not earn you enough income to pay those loans back. The other way is to take out smaller loans by attending schools in your own state and taking advantage of tuition reduction for in-state students. Whatever you decide, consider that your future employment can be hindered if you default on student loans. In some cases you can be denied a professional license for as long as you are in default. Its important to pursue your dreams but to do so prudently.

At the first glance, resume sites might seem to be really simple to do. However, many times this process can be much more difficult than it seems. We will be going over how to create a resume site in this article. The first thing you want to do before creating a resume site is to ensure that your resume is accurate. You should write the resume as if you were sitting in front of a mirror. The reason for this is because once you have your resume written, you don't want to change anything about it. When you are writing your resume, always be sure to get it right the first time. If you end up making any mistakes, it is best to correct them right away.Once you have your resume finished, it is time to put it together. It is best to use as many paragraphs as possible. If you have a lot of friends or relatives on your resume, it might be a goo d idea to make more than one page. Doing this will help people remember your resume better. When you create your website, you need to make sure that your site is all organized. You also want to make sure that your site looks professional. If you are not careful, the worst thing that could happen is that people end up not coming to your site because it does not look professional.Start off by listing all of your contact information. Make sure that the information you list here is up to date. Include all of the contact information so that the information on your site will be correct and easy to find. The final step is to create a page that is filled with your expertise. Put in your education, your work experience, and also any other special things that you have to offer. Your resume site should be filled with your knowledge and experience.Your resume should be perfect. The only thing that can be perfect is yourself. If you are a good writer, your resume site will become successful and it will drive people to come visit your site. So make sure that you put in the hard work that it takes to create your resume site.

Hedge Fund Managers Will Get Larger Bonuses in 2016
Hedge Fund Managers Will Get Larger Bonuses in 2016 Many hedge fund managers have reason to cheer even as their investors grouse about lackluster returns; they are on track to reap a much larger payday for 2016 than for 2015. âThere have been a lot of reports about hedge fund compensation being down this year but that is misleading,â said Adam Zoia, chief executive officer of Glocap, the largest investment management search firm which tracks hiring and pay in the hedge fund industry. âThe headline here is that pay is up for star performers this year.â And the jump is expected to be large, according to the 2017 Glocap Hedge Fund Compensation Report which was reviewed by Reuters. Portfolio managers at poorly performing funds will see bonuses shrink by as much as 7 percent, the report said. Hedge funds became famous more than a decade ago for delivering eye-popping returns, but more recently the industry as been criticized for its high fees and low returns, prompting many pension funds to pull money out. Even as the average hedge fund is earning returns only in the low single digits, portfolio managers at the best performing funds are likely to earn 6.6 times more than those at the industry laggards, the data from CompIQ show. The strong jump in compensation is being fueled by a wider spread between returns this year. The top performing one-third of funds are boasting gains of roughly 15 percent. The bottom one third are nursing average losses of 7 percent. A year ago the top third was up only about 4.2 percent while the bottom third was off about 4.2 percent. âLast year there was a much tighter range,â Zoia said. Hedge funds have long paid extremely well with the 25 best-paid hedge fund managers earning $13 billion last year, Institutional Investorâs Alphaâs 15th annual ranking of the industryâs highest-earning managers show. With more sluggish returns this year the conventional wisdom was that pay would shrink at a time some firms have laid off staff and trimmed spending on employees to save. The data show this is not true. Since hedge funds charge a management fee and take a portion of gains, analysts say there is still enough to pay and that firms will have to pay up to keep their best staff. âThe feeling in the industry is that it is hard enough to make money, so if you make me money you will be very well taken care of,â Zoia said. 5 Tips For Landing The Job You ACTUALLY Want - Work It Daily
5 Tips For Landing The Job You ACTUALLY Want - Work It Daily Yay! You found a job. Nothing fancy, just a job. A year later, you move on to something else, something better (or so you think). Six months later, you're on the hunt for another job. Then, you realize, you don't even know what you want to do anymore. What kind of job will make you happy? What do you WANT? Related: The 5-Step Approach To A Successful Job Search Job hopping is exhausting, isn't it? And it's even worse when you don't know what you're looking for in a job. If you're tired of finding jobs that you hate, check out these five tips for landing the job you want: 1. Understand whatâs important to you. Before you do anything, you need to determine your core values. What things are most important to you? Identifying these core values and prioritizing them will help you zone in on your priorities. 2. Define your idea of success. For some people, success means making lots of money. For other people, success means helping someone else achieve their goals. Success is completely subjective. Comparing your success to that of your friends is useless. Everyoneâs goals are different. Everyoneâs idea of success is different. If you want to find a career that brings you satisfaction, you must define what it means to YOU, and not anyone else. 3. Figure out what makes you different. What makes you unique? Determine your favorite qualities, strengths, and skills, then figure out how you can use them to solve your chosen problem. Itâs important to understand what it is you can contribute professionally that no one else can. Identify your unique strengths and talents, then demonstrate how you will use those unique strengths and talents to help your target company reach its goals. 4. Showcase your unique strengths online. Once you identify your unique strengths, you need to showcase them! If you want to be found by employers and recruiters, you need to establish a strong, cohesive online brand. Youâre probably already all over social media, but do you have a LinkedIn profile? If you donât, you NEED one. If you do, you need to fill it out correctly (otherwise, itâs not really that helpful). Think of the keywords associated with your industry/target role and incorporate them where appropriate. 5. Demonstrate your value. How can you prove to employers that you're all you say you are? How can you show them you're the best candidate for the job? By showcasing quantifiable accomplishments! Think of any projects you've been apart of (or led) - How did you contribute? What exactly did you do? Why did it make a difference? Then, think about the numbers: How much? How long? How many? Put numbers on anything you can. Numbers = results. Showcasing these results is a great way to demonstrate your value to employers. Your Next Step No one should job search alone. Office Culture 5 Things That Will Kill Yours
schreibstube Culture 5 Things That Will Kill Yours How would you describe your work culture? Is your office a supportive one with plenty of support? Or does it feel, well, just plain toxic? Read on for some signs that it may be the latter. How do you create a good office culture? What is a positive workplace culture? When it comes to company culture, many organizations and businesses have put forth initiatives to create an open and welcoming office environment. They understand the cultural and company value of having an office space environment that is open, honest, and friendly, as this will drive success. For some, this means establishing the company vision through meetings and seminars that invigorate and inspire employees to work toward goals and targets. It also includes pushing for an open office environment through activities and group trips to really bring employees together. These initiatives are great for creating a cultural and cohesive office environment, but there are certai n behaviors that can make an office space tense. And behauptung toxic, office culture killers need to be avoided at all costs. What is the culture of your organization? To get a feel for the behaviors we are talking about, check out these five toxic behaviors to avoid in the workplace to ensure an office culture that thrives.1. Strict, nonsensical rulesIf your employees sense that there are rules set in place for no real reason, it can put them on edge. These can include a very strict dress code, specific lunch hour parameters, unrelenting start or end times for the workday, and so on. If these rules dont have a basis in some kind of common sense and dont work to achieve some goal, workers will binnensee right through them. Not only that, but it sets up a culture and environment of rigorous and uncompromising rules that make people uncomfortable and may force them to shy away from integrating into the company and office culture, as well as with their colleagues and superiors.Instead of instilling harsh rules, have a conversation with your employees about what your goals are and how everyone can collectively achieve them. Of course, an office and a company have to have rules, but there should be flexibility. And any rule set in place should have an origin that makes sense to fruchtwein people. Otherwise, youll have an office culture of robots that are constantly filtering in and out of the company and nobody wants to see that.2. Lack of cultural leadership from the top, downWhen it comes to company and corporate culture, it needs to start from the top, down. You cant just expect employees to perpetuate the culture and engage in company activities if they dont see their managers and superiors also engaging with the same amount of enthusiasm. Its also important that superiors set the tone for an office environment because people will see it and respect it mora.If superiors and managers dont get involved, there is no real incentive for employees down the ladder to e ngage. And if this happens, your office will be a stale, cold, lifeless place where people do their work and leave without any real enthusiasm, ambition, or drive to really succeed in their own jobs, and to see success for the company as a whole. You want people to be excited to some degree about the job theyre doing and the company they work for. And it all starts with leadership.3. Established cliquesThis is a toxic behavior that needs to be nipped in the bud quick, or else the entire company will devolve into a high school cafeteria. Its perfectly fine to have established friend groups within a company, but when these groups become exclusive and unachievable to enter, then people get frustrated, nervous, and uncomfortable. Established cliques tell new workers especially that theyre the new kids on the block and everyone is looking out for their failure. It also heightens the paranoia because people start to wonder what these cliques are talking about, who theyre targeting, and what their intentions are. Its also much easier to assume the worst and fear for negativity from established cliques that arent welcoming to new members. To alleviate this, try to push for more group activities. Try breaking up these groups by dividing people up to work on tasks together and to hopefully open up to new, blossoming relationships. If you have an established kollektiv, separate them for a task or two. Cliques can exist, but they set the tone for a corporate culture that might make people feel unwelcome and uncomfortable which may force them to complain and eventually leave altogether.4. Poor communicationPoor communication is a big stressor for a lot of people, and one of the main reasons they decide to leave a company. By not communicating, you are telling your employees and peers that you dont care about what they think or feel, and only care about getting the job done. Also, poor communication leads to confusion and more mistakes because people arent clear about what theyre supposed to be doing. If you establish a company culture of poor communication, people will constantly be questioning what theyre doing. Theyll fear making mistakes just as much as they will fear asking for clarification.Examples of poor communication could mean employees finding out via word-of-mouth about big changes that could affect them within the company, being given misleading information about a project, client, or event, and the very worst, intentionally not telling someone information to sabotage them. Whether intentional or not, poor communication creates a culture of confusion, paranoia, and discomfort that keeps people from engaging and interacting with their peers, which means workplace culture is a failed endeavor.5. Managers who dont manageThis is another leadership problem that could spell disaster for your company culture. If you have managers that cant delegate, then youll have a circus on your hands. People need some structure, and while its good for a ma nager to want to have a friendly, personal relationship with those that they manage, they also need to push their colleagues to achieve goals and see results. Without this direction, everyone is lost. It also spells disaster when the end of the quarter comes because while the responsibility falls on the manager, their team will feel the heat.On the flip side, having an unrelenting manager also increases toxicity in the workplace by causing people to fear them. And you dont want your employees feeling sick to their stomach with anxiety every morning before work fearing that their manager is going to throw an unexpected and unrealistic project on them at the last minute, or reprimand them for not completing a task they werent clear about to begin with. This is a sure-fire way to kill workplace culture.
